The Surrey Hills 3 Lumps

This 24 mile hilly loop takes in 4 climbs in the Surrey Hills starting from the squareabout. 

  • Ride west along Lower Road towards Effingham then turn left at the roundabout into The Street and then right at the traffic lights into the A246.  Follow the road until turning into Green Dene on the left and follow this until it climbs up and becomes Coombe Lane then descends towards Shere taking care at the sharp right-hand bend.  
  • At the A25 turn right then left into Shere turning right into Sandy Lane passing through the village centre.  Start climbing up the hill and then take the left into Hook Lane towards Peaslake. 
  • Take the left after the village stores into Radnor Road and climb up Holmbury Hill and then descend down towards Ockley Road turning left at the junction towards Forest Green and then take the left into Holmbury Lane. 
  • Follow this road through Holmbury and round to Raikes Lane on the right passing The Volunteer pub and onto the A25. 
  • Cross over the A25 into White Down Lane which starts to climb up slowly then steeply to the top of the hill and then onto the crossroads with Ranmore Common Road. 
  • Cross over into Critten Lane descending towards Effingham crossing over the traffic lights into The Street.  Follow this to the roundabout turning right back towards Bookham.
