Back in simpler times...

…there was a monthly litter pick, organised by the BRA. The wonderful volunteers would spend an hour or two one Sunday each month going around our village with bags and grabbers, tidying the place up.

This obviously had to stop with social restrictions in place, however there is still a strong team of volunteers who now go out in pairs or family units collecting litter and keeping Bookham looking lovely.

How to join in

Many folk have adopted a road or two, near where they live. They pick up any litter on their “patch” whilst keeping a safe distance from others, in order to keep the area looking pleasant.

The litter pick team at the BRA has ‘grabs’ that you could use if you would like to do this, too. Just get in touch on the email below and let them know which road will be on your “patch”.

It would be wonderful if we could have every road in our area covered. You can email them at

litterpick@bookhamresidents.org.uk

How to dispose of the waste

If you find that you have collected so much litter that you do not have enough space for it it in your regular black bin, we have been told that you can email Joint Waste Solutions at molevalley@jointwastesolutions.org giving your name and address and putting the litter outside your house.

It will be collected within a day or two by the street cleaners as a special collection.
